Winged Messengers is a contemplative series featuring New Zealand native birds as symbols of guidance, protection, and quiet communication from the unseen. Suspended in cyanotype’s deep, timeless blue and touched with gold leaf, each work holds the feeling of a moment of arrival - a message mid-flight.

Informed by the places these birds belong to, the series honours their presence as both earthly and spiritual beings. The gold leaf acts as a subtle marker of the sacred, highlighting points of connection where meaning gathers and presence is felt.

Created slowly and with intention, Winged Messengers is a series for collectors drawn to art that invites stillness, reflection, and a quiet sense of connection.

Ruru Symbolism: The morepork emerges as a guardian of the night, holding wisdom, intuition, and messages that arrive through stillness and darkness.

Handmade cyanotype print on 300gsm Arches 100% cotton paper, finished with hand-applied gold leaf detailing.

Each artwork is created through a meticulous, seven-day process — from printing and carefully flattening the cyanotype, to the gold leafing, which is completed over multiple days as each section is allowed to fully cure before the next is applied.

Paper is often cut by hand, and subtle variations in size are a natural part of the work’s handcrafted nature.
